A global urban air mobility festival, ‘K-UAM CONFEX,’ to be held at Songdo Convensia in Incheon!

The 2025 K-UAM Confex, jointly hosted by Incheon Metropolitan City (Mayor Yoo Jeong-bok) and the GURS (Global UAM Regional Summit), was held on Thursday, March 20 at Songdo Convensia. The event is organized by leading domestic and international UAM-related institutions, including Incheon International Airport Corporation and the Institute for Aerospace Industry-Academia Convergence, among others.

Urban Air Mobility (UAM) refers to a next-generation mobility system that operates in low-altitude urban airspace using electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft (eVTOL). Considered one of the key industries of the future, the global UAM market is projected to reach approximately KRW 1,500 trillion by 2040.

Incheon Metropolitan City has been actively working to take the lead in the UAM ecosystem and secure future growth engines. In collaboration with the Institute for Aerospace Industry-Academia Convergence and the U.S.-based MITRE, the city has issued an Advanced Air Mobility Concept of Operations, presenting a city-level model for an urban air mobility system.

Marking its 5th edition this year, the K-UAM Confex will run until Friday, March 21, taking place at Songdo Convensia and Oakwood Premier Incheon. The term “CONFEX” combines Conference and Exhibition, reflecting the event’s format that brings together lectures by global cities and experts alongside exhibitions from leading international UAM organizations and companies. With a variety of additional programs open to the public, the event continues to strengthen its position as one of the world’s leading UAM gatherings.

The conference program is organized into eight sessions over two days. Experts in urban air mobility from international organizations, global cities, institutions, and companies will gather to discuss a wide range of topics, including UAM policies of international organizations, countries, and cities, as well as commercialization models and infrastructure for the UAM industry.

In addition, several special sessions reflecting the latest trends will be held, including topics such as UAM and Entrepreneurship, UAM and Hub Airports, and Research Trends in the UAM Industry, drawing significant interest from participants.

The exhibition will be designed as an experiential space where visitors can explore the present and future of UAM. Taking place in the lobby area and Premier Ballroom C-1, the exhibition will feature displays by global companies and presentations on emerging industrial technologies. In addition, around 10 companies from the Industry–Academia Convergence District project will participate, creating a space where visitors can experience the current status and future vision of the UAM industry.

In addition, several professional programs aimed at strengthening the UAM ecosystem and industrial innovation will be held. These include the GURS General Assembly (Nov. 20), in which Incheon participates as the chair city; the Biz-Salon, a business networking program to promote cooperation for UAM commercialization; the IFEZ–PURDUE Global Aerospace Innovation Hub Seminar (Nov. 20), which will discuss global collaboration in the future aerospace sector; and the UAM-Battery Seminar (Nov. 21), focusing on the convergence of UAM and secondary battery technologies.

Various programs are also planned to enhance public understanding of urban air mobility and the aerospace sector, as well as to support employment opportunities for job seekers in related fields. These include the UAM Academy (Nov. 21) for nurturing future talent; a Recruitment Fair connecting job seekers with companies in the aerospace and future mobility sectors (including recruitment briefings, career consultations, and bootcamps); the Stanford Center Design Thinking Workshop (Nov. 20) aimed at improving public acceptance of UAM; and the Youth Startup Challenge Performance Sharing Session (Nov. 20) featuring seven promising startups based in Incheon.

Kim Young-shin, Director of the Aviation Division of Incheon Metropolitan City, stated, “The K-UAM Confex is firmly establishing itself as Korea’s leading UAM-specialized event. It will serve as a stepping stone for Incheon to emerge as a global leading city in UAM and help build a world-class city.”

Meanwhile, the 2025 K-UAM Confex, now in its fifth edition, features lectures by global cities and experts, exhibitions by leading international UAM organizations and companies, and a variety of additional programs for the public. The term “CONFEX” is a combination of Conference and Exhibition. The conference program consists of eight sessions over two days, while the exhibition is designed as an interactive space to experience the present and future of UAM. In addition, a number of professional seminars will be held, including the GURS General Assembly (Nov. 20), the IFEZ–PURDUE Global Aerospace Innovation Hub Seminar (Nov. 20), and the UAM-Battery Seminar (Nov. 21).
